To resolve this issue, use the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove the stand-alone programs. To do this, follow these steps.

Part 1: Install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

For additional information about how to download, install, and use the Windows Installer CleanUp utility, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Part 2: Remove the Stand-Alone Programs

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Install CleanUp.
  2. On the list of installed programs, click each Microsoft Office program, and then click Remove.
  3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the removal process.
  4. When the removal process is completed, click Exit.
Note You can reinstall the stand-alone programs after you successfully install Office XP SP-1.
